Why use GoldFill?

Goldfill is such a wonderful material. It gives the look of 14kt Gold at a fraction of the price. Also known as "rolled Gold" it is a layer of precious gold metal pressure bonded to another metal usually another yellow metal like brass. Not to be confused with its cheaper cousin gold plating, GoldFill contains far more of the precious metal, is tarnish resistant and EU regulated. It is currently more valuable than Sterling Silver and even Vermeil (sterling silver with Gold plating). It is a wonderful material, try it, we think you'll be impressed! The goldfill in these earrings has come from a supplier whose supply chain has been vetted. The gold used is certified conflict free and responsibly sourced.

Why use Lab grown Opals?

Lab grown Opals are a more sustainable alternative to the traditional mined variety. As such they offer a lower carbon footprint and as you can trace the origin of the stones you can rest easy in the knowledge that they are also conflict free. They are nonetheless excellent quality and the same chemical consistency as natural opals.

Gift Packaging:

All of our pieces should be sold in a beautiful Scribble & Stone jewellery box with gold embossed logo. Our branding and gift packaging have been designed by an award winning Graphic Design/Packaging company with sustainability in mind.

We use fsc certified sustainable paper for our boxes and bags. Our gift boxes and cotton pouches are designed to be longlife rather than single use. As such we have invested considerable resources in designing a premium quality jewellery box which can be reused and kept for many years to come. 

Inside each box the jewellery will be placed in a beautiful eco friendly cotton pouch or attached to a FSC certified textured jewellery card with gold ribbon (depending on suitability). The gift box will then be wrapped in pearlised tissue paper and placed inside a pink FSC certified luxury gift bag with ribbon handles ready for gifting. 

Alternatively at check-out you can choose minimal packaging by putting it in the notes. This option will include a Scribble & Stone long life jewellery box with a cotton pouch or a textured jewellery card with gold ribbon.

The organic cotton pouches are marked eco friendly. This ECO label is used for products that meet strict requirements re toxic chemicals and damage to the environment or eco-system. The cotton is organic which means less damage to the environment and farmers and makers from chemicals. Our partner supplier sends quality controllers regularly to visit the factories they work with to ensure good work conditions for the workers there. 

FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is an international non-profit labelling system for wood and paper.

The FSC mark guarantees that all materials come from an FSC forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal- and plant life, and all foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.

Product Care:

The longevity of your Scribble & Stone piece will depend on how they are cared for. 

Here are some tips to mitigate wear and tear:

All metals will change over time when exposed to salty air, water, sweat or especially if frequently in contact with chemicals such as perfume. We therefore recommend you remove your jewellery before sleeping, sun bathing, showering, swimming, or going to the gym. 

Do not spray perfume directly onto your skin while wearing your jewellery as the chemicals will damage your pieces.

We recommend keeping your jewellery in an air-tight container at night to slow down damage by oxygen in the air. 

The PH level of your skin can also affect the longevity of your pieces causing excessive wear and tear. The chemicals in Fake Tan have also been shown to hasten the tranishing of jewellery.

Some peoples skin is more acidic than others and they may not tolerate fashion jewellery well causing the jewellery to tarnish more quickly over time.

Damage caused by reasonable wear and tear, misuse or neglect, accidental damage, exposure to heat or harmful chemicals such as perfume cannot be covered by us.

Terms & Conditions

Exchanges or returns are allowed within 60 days of receiving your order provided the pieces are unworn with the tags still on.

Scribble & Stone offer a 12-month guarantee from the date of purchase. This does not cover damage caused by reasonable wear and tear. This applies ONLY to items which present a genuine manufacturing defect and after ruling out possible misuse which caused excessive wear and tear.
