Hours: There will be a weekly roster/Some weekend work/overtime occasionally subject to Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 
Rate of Pay: TBC dependant on experience
Contract: Temporary 4 months seasonal contract/part and full-time hours available
Qualifications: Relevant Degree/3rd level qualifications in a design related field (preferable)

Job Description:
The Production Assistant is a varied role 

The Ideal Candidate will have the following experience and skills:

The ability to work independently ensuring deadlines are met. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

Education:

Qualifications in design or industry experience or relevant other

Core Skills:
Jewellery Production Skills:

Manual dexterity - ability to use pliers and wire-cutters to assemble jewellery pieces (or able to learn this skill quickly).
Attention to detail - ability to complete production tasks accurately and neatly yet quickly.
Patience for small, potentially time-consuming tasks.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of some or all of Adobe suite particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Indesign.
Knowledge of office computer systems, Windows 10, google for works, Gmail, Microsoft Office Word and/or Excel.

Communication Skills:

Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills required for dealing with third party suppliers and customers.

 Additional Skills or Experience: Not essential but would be a bonus:

CAD, 3D drawing skills.
Web or E-Commerce experience
Social Media experience, interest/experience in creating content, etc.
Knowledge of other jewellery manufacturing techniques e.g working with metals, resins, plastics, etc.
Experience designing for Industry and production.
Experience in planning photography campaigns, styling shoots, etc.
(Although these skills are not necessarily required for this particular role there may be an opportunity to grow and develop an alternative role going forward for the candidate who demonstrates some or all of these skills)

Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be flexible and open to any or all tasks as the need arises. Some of these tasks will not arise in the short term and full training will be given over time.

Production tasks

Finishing jewellery by hand subject to design guidelines and spec sheets. Tagging, bar-coding and packing products. Packing boxes for dispatch per purchase orders.
Liaising with 3rd party delivery agents on shipments, preparing shipment docs, shipping orders within agreed lead times.

Admin tasks

Liaising with stockists on orders via phone or email.
Typing invoices and packing sheets, purchasing and ordering of materials and office supplies as necessary. Dealing with any repairs or returns.
Stock-taking on current inventory levels of materials, packaging, office supplies.

Retail tasks

Some weekend work may be involved. Occasionally working at tradeshows/selling events we are involved with including helping to prep and set-up and man stand during the shows. Very occassionally attending launch or supplier events with the stores we supply out of hours.

Design tasks

Drawing simple, spec sheets for materials and/or finished products to be produced in graphic design software. Liaising with 3rd party producers on development, costings and manufacture of materials and/or finished pieces. Developing product samples with guidance from the creative director, costing designs for production. Liaising with photographer on development of product shots for use in catalogue and online, updating of catalogue twice yearly.
Dealing with graphic design suppliers for packaging and labels as necessary.

Website/Social Media

Processing online sales including printing order paperwork, packing and shipping orders and liaising with customer if and when necessary. Maintain and update photography database of stock imagery of products on website and dropbox, liasing with external social media personnel as required.

Other Tasks

Additional tasks related to the operation of the studio as the need arises.
